John and I were out today running errands today and before the afternoon was over, we were just blown away.
First of all, we went to pick up his last check from his former employer. It was 30% more than he expected.
After that I went to pick up a payment from a petsitting job I did over the holidays. My client was so happy with my services that she payed me 140% more than our agreed upon rate!
Then we were standing in line at Walmart and a lovely woman with gorgeous curly hair in the next line recognized my husband from our fundraising and adoption events at our local Tractor Supply. She reached over and handed him $20!
THEN...as if that weren't enough to make our day, we stop at Saluda River Pet Center in Seneca to pick up donated pet food and a customer there bought us a bag of pet food AND donated the change he was to get back.
We had been sitting trying to juggle figures this morning on our bills and wondering where we were going to get the funds to pay everything that needs to be paid by the weekend and buy cleaning supplies, medicines, gas, etc. While this didn't give us enough to pay everything, it really made a difference in what we need to raise now to meet those needs.
Having a day like this really gives you faith that you're doing the right thing. We didn't get into this to get rich, we got into it to help animals, and days like this, and wonderful people like those who helped us today, make it a lot easier to do that. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone anywhere who has helped us in any way this year. Without you, we would not be here. That's the truth. Happy 2015 and may your new year be the best you've ever had.
